The college’s establishment traces back to the Cooperative Training Class of the Southwest People’s Revolutionary University in 1950. It was jointly founded by Guizhou Economic School, Guizhou Domestic Trade School and Guizhou Tea Technology and Culture Secondary Specialized School. In 2017, it was officially approved by Guizhou Provincial People’s Government and registered with Ministry of Education of China, becoming a public full-time ordinary institution of higher learning.

        The college operates in both Guiyang and Duyun cities in Guizhou Province, with the Guiyang campus serving as the college’s “bridgehead” and a base for graduates’ employment and entrepreneurship. The college offers 25 majors, including Big Data and Accounting, Tea Production and Processing Technology, E-commerce and so on. It has established provincial high-level professional groups, provincial characteristic backbone professional groups, provincial tea industry integration of production and education practical training bases, provincial labor model studios, and multiple “master studios” in collaboration with renowned industry experts. In the past two years, students from the college have been selected as volunteers for Beijing Winter Olympics and Hangzhou Asian Games, serving these international sports events. In the past three years, the annual employment rate of students has consistently remained above 95%. Currently, the college has nearly 600 faculty and staff members, including 73 with associate professor titles or above, 146 with intermediate titles, and 141 with master’s or doctoral degrees. There are also 66 backbone teachers, 22 professional leaders, 10 off-campus professional leaders, and 12 craftsman in economics and trade.

        The college is recognized as a “National Civilized Unit” and a provincial-level “Double High” school project construction unit. It has been awarded numerous honorary titles, including “National Youth Civilization Award”, “National Advanced Collective for Women's Achievements”, “Advanced Basic Party Organization of Guizhou Province”, and “Pilot Unit for Comprehensive Reform of ‘Three-dimensional Education’ in Colleges and Universities of Guizhou”.
