In April, the terraced tea gardens are layered with verdant and delicate leaves, ripe for plucking. At this prime time for tea picking, teachers and students from the college, each armed with a basket, embarked on a journey to learn the art of tea picking and experience the charm of tea culture. They listened attentively, observed carefully, and were eager to try their hand at the task. In their hearts, tea picking is not just a skill, but also a cultural inheritance and promotion.

As the teachers and students went through the tea bushes, they leaping gracefully on the tea-covered hills, they resembled a joyful troupe of elves. The air of the tea garden was filled with a refreshing aroma of tea, making everyone feel refreshed and delighted.

After picking the tea, everyone came to the college's tea processing practical training center for industry-education integration, where they followed the teachers from the Tea Science Department to learn the art of tea roasting. From fixation to rolling, and then to pekoe sprouting and drying, each step was filled with challenges. Standing in front of the iron pot heated to over 200 degrees Celsius, teachers and students were sweaty, but they felt the heat with their hands, practiced their speed and tested their strength.

Holding green tea in their hands, teachers and students savored the tea. Although the day’s labor was tiring, the sense of fulfillment and happiness in their hearts was evident in their words.

“Roasting tea is really challenging!” said a student. “But I feel that this experience is extremely meaningful. It not only allows us to further understand the craftsmanship of making Duyun Maojian tea, but also teaches us the importance of loving labor and respecting the fruits of our labor.”

“This activity not only allowed more teachers and students to experience the process of tea picking and roasting, but also enabled them to feel the charm of tea culture,” said a teacher from the Tea Science Department. “We hope that through such practical activities, more teachers and students can inherit and carry forward non-material cultural heritages such as tea art, tea philosophy and tea ceremony.”
